The History of the Fourteenth Battalion, A.I.F.
Written by Newton Wanliss and published in Melbourne by The Arrow Printery in 1929.
This first-edition unit history records the experiences of the Australian 14th Battalion during the Great War. The battalion became particularly associated with Albert Jacka VC, Australia’s first Victoria Cross recipient of the First World War.
The book displays visible age-related wear, fading and rubbing to the cover and spine, together with toning and marks to the pages.
The Australian Imperial Force in Sinai and Palestine 1914–1918
Written by H. S. Gullett and published in Sydney by Angus & Robertson Ltd in 1923.
This first edition is Volume VII of The Official History of Australia in the War of 1914–1918. It documents the Australian Imperial Force and Australian Light Horse operations during the Sinai and Palestine campaign.
The volume contains period photographs, maps and detailed historical accounts. It displays cover and spine wear, foxing and page toning. An earlier owner’s name is written inside.
Royal Australian Air Force Mess Cheese Dish and Cover
An original cream-glazed ceramic RAAF mess cheese dish decorated with maroon borders and an RAAF crest.
The dish was catalogued by The Collector as having been manufactured in England by the North Staffordshire Pottery Co. Ltd.
The covered dish dates from approximately the Second World War to the immediate postwar period. It has a small flea bite on the underside edge of the cover, as shown in the photographs. No other chips, cracks or repairs have been observed.
Combined group dimensions: approximately 22 cm x 17 cm x 20 cm
Cheese dish dimensions: approximately 21 cm x 16.5 cm x 10 cm
The books remain readable but display considerable age-related wear consistent with their age and historical use. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
