Description
Vintage Klytie Pate Australian Pottery Milk Jug – Mottled Green Glaze, 14 cm
This signed Klytie Pate milk jug is a striking example of mid-century Australian studio pottery, combining a clean, restrained form with a beautifully variegated green glaze.
The jug has a tall cylindrical body with a softly shaped pouring lip and subtle hand-worked character. The glaze shows tonal movement across the surface, ranging from deeper green to softer olive and turquoise notes, while the interior reveals warm glaze depth and fine age-related character. The underside is signed Klytie Pate, confirming the piece’s authorship.
Elegant in form and quietly sculptural, this jug works equally well as a functional cabinet piece or as part of a serious collection of Australian art pottery. It is particularly appealing for collectors of Klytie Pate, Australian studio ceramics and notable women potters.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs noted. Light general wear consistent with age and use. Some glaze variation, kiln/firing character and light interior crazing commensurate with age. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
