DESCRIPTION

A charming Royal Copenhagen white porcelain Owl, Model 1741, designed by Theodor Madsen and finished in a clean glossy white glaze.

Standing only 8.5 cm high, this is an attractive and accessible example of Royal Copenhagen’s celebrated animal and bird figurines. Its restrained colouring, softly modelled feather detail and compact form give it the simple Scandinavian character associated with Danish porcelain design.

Royal Copenhagen White Owl – Model 1741

This small porcelain owl was produced by Royal Copenhagen of Denmark and is Model 1741, a design attributed to Theodor Madsen.

The figurine is modelled in a quiet upright pose with softly defined plumage, dark facial detail and a glossy white finish. Although compact in scale, the piece has considerable character and works well either as a standalone decorative object or as part of a specialised Royal Copenhagen bird or animal collection.
