A striking vintage Australian decorative plate by Martin Boyd Pottery, featuring a bold hand-painted lizard design against a warm yellow ground with brown, black and white detailing.
Produced circa the 1950s, the plate has a strong mid-century Australian character and a glossy glazed finish. The reverse carries an incised “Martin Boyd Australia” workshop mark, supporting attribution to Martin Boyd Pottery.
Martin Boyd Pottery was established in Sydney in 1946 by sculptor and potter Guy Boyd, a member of the prominent Boyd artistic family. The workshop became known for decorative and functional ceramics featuring Australian flora, fauna, figurative subjects and bold hand-painted designs.
