Description

Vintage Charles Wilton Australian Studio Pottery Jug – Signed

A substantial vintage Australian studio pottery jug by Charles Wilton, signed to the base and displaying the individual form and character associated with handmade Australian ceramics.

Measuring approximately 18.5 cm high and weighing 904 grams, the jug has a pleasingly substantial presence and works particularly well as a decorative studio pottery piece.

The handmade form, applied handle and glaze give the piece an individuality that distinguishes studio pottery from mass-produced ceramic ware.

Charles Wilton is an established name within Australian studio pottery and his ceramics are collected both as individual decorative objects and as part of broader collections of twentieth-century Australian pottery.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall.

There is a small flea bite/nibble to the handle, which is clearly documented in the photographs and has been taken into account when pricing the piece.

As a handmade vintage ceramic object, minor variations in the glaze, surface and form are inherent to the manufacturing process and should not necessarily be regarded as damage.

Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
