Description

Kenneth Jack “A Country Road” Original Watercolour, 1943

A Country Road is an early original watercolour on paper by Australian artist Kenneth Jack (1924–2006), signed and dated 43 at the lower right. The title and a circa 1943 date are also recorded on the frame backing.

Tall gum trees lead the eye along an ochre country road towards a small cottage and softly washed distant hills. Its restrained green and earth tones give this rural scene a quiet, spacious character, suited to a collection of Australian landscapes or a thoughtful gift for an admirer of works on paper.
