A substantial painted cast iron sailor doorstop attributed to Littco, with a yellow uniform, blue collar and stepped semicircular base. Approximately 34.5 cm high; 3.9 kg. Visible paint wear and surface oxidation. Exact date and paint originality unverified.

Description

This substantial painted cast iron sailor doorstop combines nautical character with a heavy freestanding form.

Standing to attention, the sailor wears a yellow uniform and cap with a blue collar and neckerchief. Red, black and flesh-tone details complete the painted design. The stepped semicircular base adds weight and stability, while the worn finish gives the piece a distinctive decorative character.

The form is attributed to Littco Products. The maker, exact manufacture date and originality of the painted finish have not been conclusively verified.
