Description
A substantial antique Australian Phenyle poison bottle, dating approximately to the 1920s–1930s. Bottles of this type were produced for disinfectant and poisonous household chemical products, with the distinctive Phenyle name becoming strongly associated with early Australian sanitary and cleaning preparations.
This example is made from amber moulded glass and has the tall, robust form typical of early 20th-century utility bottles. At approximately 25 cm high, it is a larger and more visually substantial example, making it well suited to an antique bottle collection, pharmacy display, industrial history collection or decorative vintage interior.
The bottle shows the characteristic utilitarian manufacture associated with Australian commercial glass of the period, with its form designed to be practical, durable and immediately recognisable. Early poison and chemical bottles are increasingly collected for their connection to Australia’s domestic, medical and manufacturing history.
