Established by David Dee and Reg Hawkins in Preston, Victoria, in 1929, Premier Pottery became one of Australia’s most distinctive decorative potteries. Its wares were individually hand-thrown and finished with expressive painted decoration, flowing drip glazes, matte surfaces and applied Australian motifs including gum leaves, gumnuts, grapevines and koalas.

Early PPP pottery was produced principally between 1930 and 1934. From 1934, the Remued name became the factory’s dominant brand and remained in production until Premier Pottery closed in the mid-1950s.
