John Tiplady (British/Australian 1938-) Bio
John was born in England in 1938 arriving in Australia in 1961 a mostly self-taught artist practicing in oil, watercolour, gouache and pastel John is a fellow and a past vice president of the Royal South Australian Society of Artists and has exhibited widely His first solo exhibition was held in Sydney in 1973 In the same year he returned to Europe for a study tour of the French Impressionists which he greatly admired and inspired him John successfully exhibited in London at the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Society of Oil Painters at the Mall Gallery in London John was also elected an Associate of the British Society of Painters Settling in South Australia John was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts S.A. and served a term as a Vice-President John has held numerous solo exhibitions in every state of Australia and shown in mixed exhibitions in Japan and Italy John’s works are collected throughout Australia and overseas
John has been the recipient of many prestigious art prizes
