Description
Early twentieth-century oval copper tea caddy by Joseph Sankey & Sons, with a circular removable lid and an embossed decorative band across the front. The copper has developed a varied aged patina, complementing the flowing period design. An appealing piece for collectors of Arts & Crafts metalware or vintage kitchenalia.
Joseph Sankey & Sons of Bilston, England, produced decorative copper and brass household wares around the turn of the twentieth century. Tea caddies formed part of a range that also included jugs, trays and other domestic objects. Their embossed designs brought decorative metalwork into everyday household use.
