Bio
Roger Byrt was born in Melbourne in 1959.
He first got his Masters Of Arts degree at The Royal Melbourne Institute Of Technology and studied at the Caulfield Institute of Technology & R.M.I.T. From 1989 until 2001 he was appointed Part Time Lecturer at Monash University, Acting Head of Painting and received the Ian Potter Foundation Grant.
Byrt was influenced by early Renaissance paintings and artists such as Giorgio de Chirico and Carlo Carr, He uses Old Master composition and glazing techniques to create his abstract surrealistic paintings full of shape and light.
Roger’s work is represented in many Collections around Australia and the world, including the Museum of Modern Art at Heide, Monash University, R.M.I.T. and in many corporate and private collections in America, Asia and Europe
