Description

This striking Art Deco Alienware vase was produced by Ditmar Urbach in Czechoslovakia and bears the factory name, country of manufacture and model number 9331 to the base.

Dating from approximately the 1920s–1930s, the vase has a tall architectural form with a rounded cylindrical body, elongated neck and wide flared rim. Two dramatic handles rise from the shoulders before curling inward near the neck, creating a strong symmetrical silhouette.

The surface is decorated in the distinctive Ditmar Urbach Alienware style, combining a cream ground with an intricate terracotta-brown crackle effect. Glossy dark brown to near-black vertical panels accent the neck, while a larger dark rectangular panel provides a bold focal point across the front of the body.

These contrasting geometric panels complement the vase’s sculptural handles and elongated proportions, giving the piece a particularly strong Art Deco presence. The unusual combination of architectural form, organic crackle pattern and dark geometric decoration makes it an appealing example of interwar Czechoslovakian art pottery.

Standing 30.5 centimetres high, the vase has sufficient scale to display as a standalone statement piece while remaining suitable for a cabinet, sideboard, console table or mantel. It would complement an Art Deco interior or a broader collection of Czech and European decorative ceramics.

The underside retains the Ditmar Urbach factory mark, the word Czechoslovakia and model number 9331.
