Improvising from a little mishap ๐
Sometimes the clay will throw you a curve ball and try to ruin your efforts haha
But if this happens relativity early in the throw, itโs still saveable!
Just use a potters needle to cut the top from the pot and bring the wall up again, youโll have to make a pot smaller then you first imaged (less clay to work with) but youโll still have something to show by the end of it
So what causes the clay to warp? Well a lot of things, but it can be the clay is a little too dry or your fingers are dry, if your fingers donโt have enough water to keep the clay spinning in your fingers with little friction, it will catch and pull the clay out of shape.
Some clay will need more water when throwing than others, for instance.
This red clay that im using requires more water then the brown clay i use in other pots, that can be a lot to do with clay being sourced from different areas or having a different chemistry (red clay having a higher iron content for instance)
Best thing is to know your clay and donโt be afraid to test its limits, knowing you clay better will also make you a better pottery ๐
Happy throwing guys!
