Moderate speeds often work well for controlled elevation. Not too fast not too slow, this is personal preference but thought I\u2019d mention it \ud83e\udd17<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As you start pulling up, apply more pressure at the base. This helps establish a stable foundation and even thickness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As you move upwards, gradually lessen the pressure. This ensures the walls elevate more delicately, avoiding distortion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep the motion smooth and fluid. Abrupt movements can lead to uneven walls. I anchor my left forearm on the edge of the pottery wheel to give my a good stable base to push from, sometimes you can also use your body such as locking your elbow into your hips or stomach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Developing this technique requires practice. Don\u2019t be discouraged by initial attempts; every vase is a learning opportunity. I\u2019ve spent a good amount of time making vases, while it seems almost impossible at the start, getting high walls and tapered bottoms is only a little big of practice away
