Please mind the wobbly pot! I trimmed this one a little earlier than i should! But the process is still the same!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When trimming the base of a vase on the wheel head, follow these tips to ensure a successful and secure process \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Prepare the trimming tools: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gather the necessary trimming tools, such as a trimming tool with a sharp edge, one with a round edge and a sponge, Ensure the tools are clean and in good condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Create small coils of clay: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a small amount of clay and roll it into thin coils. These coils will act as support and help secure the vase on the wheel head during trimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Position the vase on the wheel head:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the vase on the wheel head, aligning it in the center. Press the small coils of clay firmly around the base of the vase, attaching them to the wheel head. Ensure the vase is stable and secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Use the trimming tool: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hold the trimming tool at a slight angle and gently press it against the base of the vase. Lock your elbows into your ribs to create a stable tool, Allow the tool to do the cutting work, rather than forcing it through the clay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Trim the excess clay: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Remove excess clay from the base of the vase by trimming in a smooth, controlled motion. Pay attention to maintaining a consistent thickness and creating a clean, even edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Check the stability: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As you trim, periodically check the stability of the vase on the wheel head. Adjust the small coils of clay if needed to ensure the vase remains secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Refine the base: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the main trimming is complete, switch to a finer trimming tool, finger or a rib tool to refine the base further. Smooth out any rough edges or imperfections for a polished finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Clean and finish:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Clean the trimmed base with a slightly damp sponge!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember to work patiently and with precision during the trimming process.
