Throw to Height: Centre the clay on the wheel head and pull it up to the desired height for the vase shape, maintaining even thickness throughout the walls. Shape the vase into a rounded form, with a wider base tapering gradually towards the neck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Maintain Wall Thickness: Be mindful to maintain consistent wall thickness as you shape the vase, especially around the curved indentation. Avoid excessive pressure with the finishing sponge to preserve the integrity of the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Shape Adjustment: Refine the vase\u2019s shape using a damp sponge from both the inside and outside, focusing on achieving smooth transitions and curves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Add Wave Effect: Once the vase is shaped, grab a wooden tool and add a wave effect to the outside. Keep your hand movements quick and symmetrical, ensuring uniformity in the pattern. Be deliberate but gentle to create a pleasing wave texture on the surface. The tool that I was using for this is just a potters tool acting like a thumb. You can use whatever wood until you have available. Metal ones tend to dig in a little bit more so I would recommend even a wooden stick! \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Patience in Drying: Cover the completed vase with plastic to slow down the drying process, reducing the risk of cracking.
