{"id":2244,"date":"2024-04-05T01:38:57","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T01:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themccorrycollection.com\/tmc\/db\/?p=2244"},"modified":"2024-04-05T01:39:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T01:39:00","slug":"experimenting-today-with-three-different-glazes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/themccorrycollection.com\/tmc\/db\/experimenting-today-with-three-different-glazes\/","title":{"rendered":"Experimenting today with three different glazes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Experimenting with the glaze combos again!! \ud83e\udd29 (see comments) #glazes #glazingpottery #ceramics\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TK1uuCLtefE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the things I\u2019ve been doing recently, is trying different glaze combos to get it to see if we can get some new combinations that will suit some of the newer clays that were using, this most recent experiment is to try the sapphire blue with temmoku but with the added glaze of the white experimental cover, that we developed a little while ago<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I did use this white experimental glaze and a few pieces in the last firing, but they didn\u2019t quite turn out on the white clay bodies, and you couldn\u2019t see much at all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no exception with this one \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pot ended up, turning to be a brown blue and black galaxy over the whole piece, luckily the dark clay body I was using has some white grog to add a bit of speckled to the glaze otherwise it would be a very dark piece indeed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that\u2019s what you have to do at times, you\u2019ve got to experiment with different glazes and different combinations to see what it will look like. I personally like this a lot and I do like the look of it. It\u2019s hard to capture it with the camera but under the right lighting with the sunlight on it, it\u2019s actually quite a nice vase&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This also highlights the fact that dark glazes tend to go darker and dark clay bodies, and even though that may seem like something that is common sense, this is a good representation of what a dark clay body will do to your glazes, if this was on a white clay body, you\u2019d be able to see the temmoku and blue a lot better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the experimental glaze, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll be using it again, even though it\u2019s a white cover, it\u2019s turned out clear both times!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any further questions about anything you have seen in this reel, please feel free to comment
