Making big bowls can be a little difficult but knowing the right technique can definitely help! More info below&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. After getting the clay centre and creating an opening in the middle, you can then begin throwing up the walls using a throwing sponge to keep moisture in the walls of the clay when pulling. With your hands on the outside and inside of the clay, slowly pull the walls upwards to the desired height, maintaining an even thickness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Once the walls are at the desired height, use a curved rib on the inside of the bowl to shape and smooth the walls, applying gentle pressure as you move up the bowl. Smaller ribs can create more pronounced shapes while larger ribs create more of a mellow curvature&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Use a trimming tool to remove any excess clay from the bottom sides of the bowl, creating a finished look. White about 48 hours after throwing your bowl to trim a foot ring into the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Smooth out any imperfections on the surface of the bowl with a damp sponge or rib, and refine the shape as needed. Then, carefully use a wire tool to cut the bowl from the wheel head, then transfer it to a board to dry slowly and evenly. (Covering with a plastic bag works great)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Allow the bowl to dry completely before bisque firing it in a kiln. Once bisque fired, you can glaze the bowl and fire it again to achieve the final finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a good day everyone and as always Happy Potting!!!
