As the wheel rotates, apply steady pressure to shape the clay into a centred lump. Then form the base&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After creating the base. Start pulling the walls up and slowly and steadily increase the height while pulling the clay outward to create the desired bowl form. Pay attention to maintaining an even thickness and symmetry throughout. Try keep the top circumference of the lip the same as what it was before you brought the clay outwards<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the basic shape is achieved, sponge smooth both the inside and outside surfaces. Employ a rubber rib to smooth off the outer surface even more, ensuring a balanced and well-proportioned shape. Take care with the rim, striving for a combination of strength and aesthetic appeal. Use a little bit of shammy to help shape the lip&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allow the bowl to firm up slightly (5-10 minuets or so) before introducing ripple decoration. Use a pottery comb, a tool with teeth or ridges, to add texture to the exterior. Press the comb gently against the rotating clay, moving it in a rhythmic up-and-down motion to create the desired ripple pattern. Experiment with different comb styles to achieve unique and intricate textures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While combing, maintain awareness of the clay\u2019s thickness to prevent compromising the bowl\u2019s structural integrity. After achieving the desired ripple effect, let the bowl dry to a leather-hard state. Take this opportunity to refine details and address any rough spots. Always dry your pieces under a plastic bag with a small hole cut out of the top for ventilation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When glazing, select colours that complement and accentuate the ripple pattern. Apply the glaze evenly, taking into account how firing will affect colour intensity.
