These particular pots turned out really nicely! Im excited to get them glazed in a few weeks time. First its the bisque firing THEN the glazing \ud83d\ude01<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes you wish you could go straight to glazing a particular time but patience is important and all good things comes to those who wait as they say!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll add a few tips below on carving your own! \ud83e\udd17<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Good quality tools are a must, I can\u2019t tell you how many bases I have ruined using a cheap tool! Just when you think everything is going well the clay catches a blunt edge, Ive distorted and ruined pots this way, A good quality tool will allow you to not only work more efficiently it will also give you a better result<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Use good soft clay to hold your pieces in place, don\u2019t worry about the scraps you may have in the reclaim bucket, use some of the fresh clay from a bag, fresh clay is sticky and easy to work with, it will hold your pot in place with no movement. Just roll yourself two thick coils and your good to go&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Foot rings are optional but i do find they are better for most situations, they give the piece an nice balanced feel and take some weight out of the base of the pot, not only that they also minimise the risk of cracking, The thinner base allows the piece to dry out more evenly and reduces excess moisture that may be trapped in the base. Since I started adding foot rings, S cracks have been a thing of the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again hope you enjoyed this post and as always Happy Potting!!!
