The Rick Amor Portrait Prize has been running for several years at Montsalvat Eltham Victoria and reopened for submissions earlier in the year after last year’s exhibition was halted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rick Amor is one of Australia’s most significant living artists. He has been practicing his craft in Melbourne for around five decades and was an official War Artist to East Timor appointed by the Australian War Memorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His works consist of many different mediums, from sculptures to paintings. He has entered numerous works into the prestigious Archibald Prize and won many other prizes for his work, including The McClelland Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s opening night for the Portrait Prize was held on Thursday 30th June, with food and drinks provided for the guests. The Montsalvat Barn Gallery is the perfect venue for such a prestigious award, and the crowd was buzzing with the anticipation of who will win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition consisted of 35 works by 35 artists, with the prize winner announced towards the end of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talented artist Timothy Perkins (@diodetapestry) taking first honours with his beautifully painted portrait titled “Self Portrait” Oil on linen 55.9 x 50.8cm. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Timothy Perkins compleated a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
at the National Art School, plus a Diploma of Fine Art at the Julian Ashton <\/a>Art School, His works consist of portraiture, still life’s and landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of other artists are also on display at the Barn Gallery of Montsalvat, with the exhibition held until 21st August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people’s choice award of $1000 is still available for voting until the winner is announced after the exhibition’s closing date. The exhibition is free to view in what is a great space to display these works in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
