When sweet, smelling pine & ceramics combine

Crafting this aromatic bowl, Christine initiates the process by soaking the pine needles and leaf strips in hot water. After draining, she places them within a damp tea towel.

Armed with tools like scissors, a large sewing needle, a pine needle feeder, and clothes pegs, she commences her creative journey.

Christine expertly threads a large needle with a leaf strip, utilising the pine feeder to guide the pine needles. As she delicately winds the leaf strips around the pine needles, she maintains control over thickness by feeding additional needles into the pine feeder.

Strategically placing pegs on bends aids in both drying and shaping the pine needles as she artfully progresses around the bowl.

With precision, she continues this meticulous process until three layers of pine needles are seamlessly stitched together.

Patiently allowing her work to dry thoroughly, Christine then applies linseed oil generously over all the pine needles. This final touch not only serves to protect but also to preserve, resulting in the creation of a splendidly crafted bowl where the simple pine needle meets the artistry of ceramics.
