As a quick side note, when you leave water in the base of your pots, you have a chance for it compromise the clays integrity, which will mean the base will fall out when you pick it up later on, water sitting in the base of your pots is never good and it can also lead to severe cracking in your piece
Most ribs will generally do the job you wanted to do when we throwing certain shapes will allow you to get a particular design easier than others but a lot of the time it comes down to personal preferences as well. I would suggest you test out as many shapes as you can, this will allow you to find the shape you like working with
After about 48 hours, what you want to do is place the vars on its top on the wheel Head secure it down with a few lumps of clay and begin trimming a base for the bars. Don’t forget to stamp and sign your piece, you want the world of the future to know it was made by you! 🥹
