Using A Temmoku Glaze On Rutile Green

One of the more adventurous tests I’ve done with a pot! I had no idea if the Temmoku would work simply because of hoe old the glaze was, dad made up the glaze as a test about 8 or 10 months ago

It sitting for so long in the studio had me doubting if it would even work!!

After about 10 minutes removing the hard panning from the bottom of the bucket, it was not time to apply the glaze. I didn’t want I put too much Temmoku on the vase as it’s definitely a strong glaze and will overpower the green until it’s a black brown blob! 😄

High speed mixing is a crucial step in getting this glaze back up to scratch again, the last thing I wanted was to not have everything throughly mixed, especially when its been sitting for so long

After applying the glazes I then grabbed a sponge just to clean up the base, if you use a wax resist on the base it will help make cleanup a LOT quicker

In the winder sometimes you have to wait a full 24hrs for the bisque to dry, but because it’s autumn here i only waited about 7-8 hrs before firing!

But look how well It turned out!! Definitely happy with the result!

What do you think of it?
