Follow the steps in our video tutorial to create an elegant Kurinuki-inspired Squat Vase, a beautiful pottery piece to elevate any space.

Roll out an 8 mm thick clay slab and cut your circles using templates and a clay knife.

Shape one circle on a mold, then repeat for the second circle.

Trim the edges of both halves, score, and apply slip before joining them.

Pinch and smooth the seams for a seamless look.

Mark the hole for the rim with a cookie cutter.

Use a paint scraper to carve texture into the vase, lifting clay and tearing for beautiful depth and movement.

Turn your vase over and carve a foot ring, finishing the bottom half with the same technique.

Once you’ve created enough texture, turn vase over again, and cut the hole for the rim, lifting, and shaping as needed.

Your Kurinuki-inspired vase is ready to be bisque fired.

Once bisque fired finished with a glaze of your choice.
