Throwing an artistic looking pot does not have to be difficult

Throwing an artistic looking pot does not have to be difficult nor complicated in anything. It’s a simple techniques that make the job what it is.

For this particular vase I wanted to create something that was really going to stand out once glazed to do that you need to push the clay beyond its capabilities .

The best way to do this is to make sure you’re working with a lot of clay, the more clay you work with the more possibilities you have entertaining it into something quite special throwing the walls up with relatively thick walls gives you the flexibility and being able to create a vase or pot That can be manipulated into a piece of art.

Because I’m putting the laceration into the sides of the walls. I have to make sure there’s enough thickness so that the wooden knife doesn’t penetrate through to the other side, if for some reason you do penetrate to the other side, just put a small coil clay, where the cutters and press from the inside covering up the hole do you want to do this before creating the belly of the vase so that the cuts made to the outside of the wall spread open to create texture.

Don’t be afraid to be creative and take risks in your wheel throwing, at the end of the day, if you fail, you can always wedge it and throw it again 😂
