So today’s video is a little different than the usual one.
Today I’m actually teaching Daddy how to wheel throw!
Dad worked in a small studio 30 years ago but mainly did hand building, In the studio today. He works on glazes and glaze chemistry which takes up a majority of his time.
But that doesn’t mean you don’t try and learn new things, which is why he has decided to learn how to throw on the wheel!
Most important thing that we focused on in this video was to make sure we get the clay wedged properly so that there are no air bubbles that can cause problems when throwing this small cup.
Splitting the clay up into quarters, allows you to wedge the clay in small portions before adding it to a larger piece which can be a little difficult to handle, especially when it gets heavy, which this was weighing in at 2.8 kg
After getting it all wedged, we then placed it on the wheel head and began the throwing process which ended up being a huge success
Hope you enjoyed this little video and have a look at day 2 tomorrow!
As always Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳
