Ready to create a stunning maximalist vase?

1. Use a template to cut out the body of the vase plus eight smaller squares of clay, bevelling the edges for a seamless join.

2. Place four squares in the centre of each body and stamp your unique design.

3. Let the clay dry slightly on a mould, then score, slip, and join the squares by pinching the seams.

4. Repeat the joining process for both sides, compressing the seam with a wooden tool and cleaning up with a rubber kidney.

5. Attach coils to the inside reinforcing the joins, place the vase body over a clay slab, cut out the base, score, slip, and attach it.

6. Compress with a wooden tool and clean up using a rubber kidney and a damp sponge.

7. Use a cookie cutter or clay knife to cut a hole in the shoulder, form a strip of clay into a neck, cut to fit, score, slip, and attach.

8. Next finish off by cutting out a flat strip of clay, cut a centre hole for them rim and attached.

9. Clean up the join with a wooden tool and damp finger, place a strip of clay on top, cut a hole, and join as usual.

Allow the vase to dry thoroughly, then bisque fire it before glazing for an exquisite finish.
