Watch as my dad, at 60 years young, takes on the pottery wheel like a pro 🎨✨
Only started leaning the wheel on the 28th of December! And already throwing tea bowls and small cups! Amazing work in such a short amount of time, very proud indeed
Its been one of the coolest thing to see my father go from not knowing anything about throwing to being able to create pieces from scratch
After about 24-48 hours dad will then trim and sculpt the base! Because the base has been left quite thick, you don’t want to dry the clay out too quickly!! Thinner parts of the bowl will dry quicker then the thicker parts so drying it out as evenly as you can, covering it with a plastic bag why drying it will help vent out the moisture in the clay
If you need more time to carve your pot you can lightly spray the pot with a water gun to help keep it moist, you can do this for a few weeks if you need so keep that in mind!
Hope you enjoyed this post and it was inspirational for you!
