How to make this plate from start to finish.
First add texture to your clay, then place on a press mould tool and use a cushion to mould the shape.
Smooth off using your clay tools, it’s important at this stage to allow the clay to dry a little before putting the feet on, flipping the plate, too early may end in disaster and result in the plate sagging.
Now score and slip and attach the feet, use your clay tools to compress and strengthen the joins.
Make sure plate has dried properly, before flipping onto its feet because we want to avoid clay warping (or clay memory which you won’t notice till plate has been fired) ideally, we want the plate to support its own weight.
Next Pull the mould away and clean up plate be careful not to wet it too much around rim, otherwise you might get sagging here.
Allowed to dry thoroughly before bisque firing, then apply your favourite glaze before finally putting your plate through a Glaze firing.
Happy Potting to you! 😀
