Let’s make this Kurinuki inspired Brutalist Casket.
The first thing that Christine does is mark out her four slabs and cut them out, then scores and slips.
She then proceeds to join all the sides, using her tools to compress and making sure that all the joints are secure whilst cleaning up as she goes.
Taking her clay knife, she now marks out her lid and her base, followed by cutting these two out before scoring and slipping, then attaching the first piece.
Then she uses her tools to compress and smooth off the joins.
For the last piece, she just repeats the same process.
Before Christine carves this canister, she will first dry it off a bit. Then she’ll mark out where to cut her lid before doing the final cutouts so that her lid fits securely on the canister.
In the last step, she now used the paint scraper to carve texture into the body of the canister.
Allowed to dry thoroughly before bisque firing, then apply your favourite glaze before finally putting your vase through a Glaze firing.
Happy Potting to you! 😀
