2. Add Design: Hand roll some clay and apply it to the vase to create a decorative design. Use a roller to compress the design into the clay.
3. Shape with a Mould: Utilise a mould to shape the clay into the desired vase form. Place the shaped clay on a board, preparing it for assembly.
4. Join the Pieces: Score and slip the bevelled areas of both clay pieces. Begin by joining the bottom first, pinching together a seam. Repeat this process for both sides of the vase.
5. Refine the Seams: Use a wooden tool to compress and refine the seams. A rubber kidney can be employed to clean and smooth the joins.
6. Reinforce the Seams: Strengthen both seams by adding clay coils to the inside of vase, ensure they are securely bonded.
7. Attach the Base: Place the body of the vase over a slab of clay, and carefully cut out the base. Score and slip the base and attach it to the vase, use a wooden tool, to compress the base securely.
8. Cut hole for Neck of Vase: Use a cookie cutter and a clay knife to cut hole in shoulder.
9. Create the Neck: Take a strip of clay, form it into the desired neck shape, score and slip the neck, cut it to fit and attach it to the shoulder of the vase.
10. Final Touches: Use a wooden tool to compress the inside of the neck join. Lastly, attach a rim to the vase, ensuring it complements the overall design. Clean up any imperfections with a damp brush and a wet finger.
11. Completion: Your vase is now finished! Admire your artistic creation.
