Pulling up good walls is something that requires good practice and patience. There is no shortcut or easy way to get around it. But with practice comes experience
I’ve put Goethe’s this video with some tips about how i pull my walls up and some things I use, my goal with this video is to hopefully show you a idea or technique to help improve your own wall throwing. At the end of the day we all like to throw our own walls a little differently, but sharing what i do will hopefully be beneficial nonetheless
1: Buy Yourself A Metal Rib:
I have included the clip of me using the metal rib to smooth off the outside of the pot and finish the consistency of the clay thickness, the metal rib is a little more useful then the rubber ones purely because of its stability
2: Keep Practicing! :
With each failed attempt, you gain valuable insights. Your hands become more familiar with the clay’s behavior, your instincts sharpen, and your muscle memory refines. It is through this repetition that the craft begins to reveal its secrets.
Yes, the process may be hard. There will be moments of doubt, moments where progress feels elusive. But it is precisely in these moments that you must persist!
The journey of mastering throwing walls on the pottery wheel teaches us not only about the art itself but about the power of perseverance. It reminds us that greatness is not achieved overnight but will over time!!
As someone once said if it were easy, everyone would be doing it 😆
Hope you enjoyed this post and as always, Happy Potting! 🥳
We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
