A tapered vase for you today, while this wasn’t initially what i wanted to create, it is still a vase none the less. There was a large kink in the clay from some scrapes I added to the clay ball, while I thought this wouldn’t create a issue, a lump of slightly harder clay made my plans come unstuck
This red mahogany clay is a very soft clay to work with, otherwise it wouldn’t have been a issue
Few Tips On How I Made This:
***Aim for consistent clay texture. Avoid mixing clays with vastly different properties, as this can lead to unpredictable results during throwing. (Something that I just did 😂)
***Choose a throwing sponge specifically designed for wheel throwing. It should have a comfortable size and texture that suits your grip. They can come in different grades and textures, I use a medium grade for the majority of the process with a fine texture one for finishing off curves and round shapes
***Don’t be afraid to play around with your vase after you have finished with it, It’s a little hard at first but really helps bring your creative side out, not I know, you just made a perfect vase and now your going to play around with the shape, BUT.
It’s a good way to add your own personal touch to a piece and really make it yours, because at the end of the day, rules are only guidelines when it comes to ceramics
Once again hope you enjoyed this post and Happy Potting! 🥳🥳
We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
