Todays video will be on how to make a cup or mug on the pottery wheel!
This is the second time I’ve made a mug of this size, the first one turned out so good i just had to make another one. What do you think of it?
Here is a few tips to make your own! 🤗
1. Decide on the shape and style of your cup. You can create anything from a classic cylindrical shape to more creative and unique designs. My advise it to go for a good strong shape to begin with, this will mean when your attaching the handle, you wont have problems with walls wanting to collapse too much
2. Let the cup dry until it reaches the “leather hard” stage. At this point, the clay is firm but still slightly flexible. This can take anywhere from 6-48 hrs depending on weather and the climate you live in, If you find the cup is too unstable to pickup in your hands then its too soft and need some time left to dry out, using a plastic bag during this process will help eliminate the cup, drying out too quickly or drying out unevenly
3. Blend the handle attachment points seamlessly with the cup’s surface. Smooth out any visible seams or gaps with a damp sponge or tool. Because the handle on this one was a little soft. I waited in till I trim the base the next morning to finish off the handle and clean up the seams.
Once again hope you enjoyed this post and as always Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳
We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
