Helix Wave Rosebud Victoria Public Art

Helix Wave Rosebud Victoria.

One of two Public Art sculptures created by artists Matthew Harding and Benjamin Storch in the town of Rosebud. This sculpture marks the western entrance to Rosebud Township. Constructed with the use of salvaged wood from the renovations of the pier in Rosebud.

The artwork references the pier’s salvage and represents significant elements of the original structure; the timber footings being transformed into The Helix Wave.

The sculpture also reference the origins of the Rosebud name. This was derived from The Rosebud, a cargo vessel that washed over sandbanks and onto the beach in 1855.

Salvaged timber from the hull of “The Rosebud” was used by local fishermen for the construction of dwellings.

Part 2 “Sails” Sculpture coming soon.
