Harley born in 1908 in NSW Australia, Harvey Cameron Griffiths, studied in Melbourne under Arch Colquhoun and followed in the tonal tradition of his father.
His father artist Harley Griffiths senior who studied at The National Gallery School between 1894-1899, and who also share a studio with Max Meldrum.
Best known for his still life and landscape artworks.
Like his fathers Fruit and Floral Still Life Studies, Harley’s studies of the same subject have a uniqueness about them.
He painted with technical brilliance, pulling together draftsmanship, tone of colour and impression of light in his artwork.
In 1956 he was appointed Conservative of pictures at the National Gallery Victoria.
