Get this little conical bowl for today!

I thought Id run through a few pointers while throwing this pot too

This white clay is one of the best looking clays when fired, you could almost say it gives a porcelain look, its a very plastic-like clay and have no grog whatsoever, this can make it nice and playable to use but also has not much strength when pushed too far, unlike other clays that contain more grog

A few extra tips I couldn’t fit into the video

1: Be sure to pinch the bottom of the pot when you are pulling up the walls, this will help ensure good clay distribution from base to the top.

2: The final finishing of the outside the pot is best done with a rib, as it does not move or conform to the clay, it also helps remove any tool marks from the base as mentioned

3: Draw the wire through the base your pot once you have finished throwing and allowed to dry for a good day, to two days before you pull it off the bat and begin turning the base (May be shorter or longer depending on weather)

Take care with the drying of the clay, if a clay is dry by nature it will tend to be a lot easier to dry on the rack, if it dries out too quickly, especially if it dries unevenly raises the risk of cracks in the walls or the base, so keep that in mind when you set your piece off to the side for drying

As always hope you enjoyed this post and Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳

We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
