DIY Name Plaque for a Door

In this project, we will guide you through creating a unique name plaque to personalise a bedroom door. Let’s dive into the step-by-step process:

Step 1: Impress a Doily Pattern: Begin by rolling out your clay to the desired thickness. To add an intricate doily pattern, you can use rollers available on platforms like Etsy. These rollers are great to use.

Step 2: Cut Out the Body of the Plaque: Using a square as a guide, cut out the main body of your plaque. A square helps establish a precise 90-degree angle, making it easier to achieve a symmetrical design.

Step 3: Bevel the Edges: To add a professional touch, take a bevelling tool and carefully bevel all the edges of your plaque. This step provides a refined appearance to your creation.

Step 4: Impress Letters: For the name, utilise kitchen alphabet cookie cutters. Impress the letters into the clay. To ensure clean lettering, use a clay knife to cut them out, as the clay tends to get stuck in the cookie cutters.

Step 5: Assemble the Name: Now that you have your cut-out letters, align them with the help of a ruler. Score and slip each letter, then attach them to the plaque securely. This creates a customised and professional look.

Step 6: Create a Hanging Hole: Using a suitable tool, make a hole in the plaque. This hole will allow you to hang the finished piece on the bedroom door or wherever you desire.

Step 7: Final Touches: To complete your project, use a damp sponge to clean up any excess clay and refine the surface. This step ensures a clean and polished finish to your name plaque.

Congratulations, you’ve successfully crafted a personalised name plaque for a bedroom door or any other location. This unique piece adds a personal touch and enhances the room’s aesthetic. Enjoy your beautiful creation!
