Got a different video for today, this is the first time I have added grog to a clay body!
My experience with this black clay has been interesting, it’s a very “plastic” clay body, which some people may find great, but me personally, it’s a little hard to get it to work the way I want it to.
I’ve had a lot more flops with this clay body then the others, I think mainly because of it’s delicate nature, it’s a lot more susceptible to water and pulling the walls too hard
So my first attempt to get this clay body a little better to throw was to add some grog to it
Grog is a form of fired clay that has been brought up to vitrification and then grounded down into either a fine or course powder, this can also be done with sand as well
What grog does is add a little bit of structure to the clay, it gives it more strength and helps eliminate the sloppy mess you get with a plastic clay
Plus depending on what grog you use, it can also add different colour to your clay body in little specks, this particular one is white so it should be a white grogged black clay pot!!
Once again hope you enjoyed this post and Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳
We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
