Crafting a stunning textured squat vase is a breeze with these simple steps using clay, potter tools, moulds.
1. Roll out your clay, we normally roll our clay 8mm thick.
2. Cut two circular clay pieces for the vase body using templates.

3. Place each clay piece on a round plaster mould and conform the clay ensuring perfect alignment.
4. Once dry enough, carefully remove the pieces from the moulds and trim the edges.
5. Score, slip, and bring both halves together, creating that connection.
6. Pinch a seam, use clay tools to compress and smooth over the joins.
7. Cut a hole in the center of your vase using a cookie cutter.
8. Use a clay strip to create a neck, scoring, slipping, and attaching it firmly around the hole.
9. Widen the neck by gradually running your finger around the rim to achieve a stylish flared look.
10. Detail the vase with a damp sponge tool for that perfect, polished finish.
11. Now for the decoration, press clay into a sprig/plant mould, remove, score, slip, and apply them to build up texture on the vase body.
12. Use clay tools to refine any rough or unsightly areas, especially the areas where texture has been applied.
13. Allow your masterpiece to dry thoroughly, covering it with plastic bags to prevent uneven drying.
14. Once dry, bisque fire your piece before applying glaze and proceeding to the final glaze fire.
