Crafting and Decorating an Egg Holder

Learn how to create and decorate an egg holder with this easy-to-follow tutorial:

Step 1: Begin by placing your template onto the clay and cut out, next use a ruler to divide into sections.

Step 2: Take a boiled egg wrapped in plastic and gently push it down into a cushion to create the egg holder’s shape. Ensure that the edges align with the template.

Step 3: Flip the egg holder onto a board and let it dry for a bit before proceeding.

Step 4: To prevent the feet from sinking, lightly dry the inside of the egg holder.

Step 5: Cut out feet and attach. Once dry Bisque fire, then proceed to step 6

Step 6: Cut out enough of the transfer to cover your egg holder completely.

Step 7: Carefully place the transfer over the egg holder, making sure the face of the transfer faces downwards.

Step 8: For an even pattern, place some eggs inside the holder. This will help transfer the pattern evenly onto the clay surface.

Step 9: Using a damp square piece of sponge, begin by gently pressing the sponge into the first egg section, ensuring it’s evenly dampened. Avoid brushing the sponge; instead, press it slowly onto the clay.

Step 10: Peel off the sponge and check that the pattern has transferred onto the clay surface.

Step 11: Apply a clear glaze over the top of the decorated dish. Once the glaze is applied, fire it, and your egg holder will emerge beautifully crafted and ready to hold your eggs in style.
