Using Glaze Tongs? Boring! 😂

Well I decided using the tongs all the time can get a bit mundane so decided to try scooping the glaze from the bucket with my hand to get a different effect!

It actually gave a very nice coverage on the pot as well as giving a good thickness of glaze too, quite happy with the results tbh

Some tips I will also mention:

You can also apply wax resist techniques to create intricate patterns and prevent glaze from dripping where you don’t want it. Apply wax to areas you wish to preserve, then glaze over them. The wax creates a barrier, allowing for precise control over the drip pattern. (But know that the wax requires it to be Burt off in the kiln, so a latex resist may work better for your application)

Try explore layering glazes to achieve captivating color combinations and depth in your pottery. Experiment with overlapping glazes to create unique effects and textures. I’ve been experimenting with all our glazes for a little while now and we wouldn’t have found our brand-new combo, If it wasn’t for testing how they all interact with each other, including one that we did recently that completely didn’t work and nearly ran off the pot!

Don’t be afraid to embrace imperfections in your glaze drips. Sometimes, the most captivating results emerge from unexpected drips and runs, adding character and charm to your pottery. So give it a go!
