Here is a little recap on a vase that I made a little while ago and how you can make your own! Do you like how we glazed it? We think it turned out absolutely stunning with the wacky wombat glaze 🤗

How to make your own! 👇

Start with a well-wedged clay that’s appropriate for your vase. For a spiral vase, you might want to use clay with some plasticity and good workability. Begin by centering your clay on the wheel, as you would for any pottery project. Proper centering is essential for a balanced and symmetrical vase. Create an initial opening in the center of the clay by pressing your thumbs down into the clay while the wheel is spinning. Gradually widen the hole to the desired size and depth. Then bring your walls up to the desired height! (Little higher then what you want the final vase to be)

To create the spiral effect, moisten your finger or fingers with water. This will allow it to glide smoothly over the clay. Next, Put your finger on the inside of the vase, close to the bottom. Start gently pushing the clay outwards and upwards while maintaining contact with the interior surface. As you push, bring your hand up in a controlled and continues manner

After achieving the desired twist, use a rib or a sponge to smooth and shape the exterior of the vase, making sure to give the vase a pleasant smooth exterior.

After 24-48hrs, give the base a trim, this will help the piece dry out more evenly if the base is around the same thickness of the walls

Thank you and have a lovely day !! 😍😍🤩
