Today, we are testing three new glaze recipes

So, we have Tea Dust, Tenmoku, and a Tenmoku cover.

Follow along for how we do this.

First off, because we’re making three different glazes, we want to label the glazes so that we

know which one’s which.

Next zero the scale and weigh out 90 grams of water. This is an important step for consistency.

First ingredient is EPK so again we zero the scale.

After adding the Kaolin, we continue to add your fluxes, the silica, and finish off with the colorants.

So here are the three glazes, the Tenmoku, the Tenmoku Cover, and the Tea Dust Glaze.

All glaze tests have been slaking for three days, so now what we will do is high speed mix them, once glazes have had a high-speed mix, we pour them into a cup, grab our test tiles and dip them and we want around a four second dip.

There it is, lastly, we put the test tiles in the kiln and see how we go.

If you’re interested in glaze chemistry and want to know more about making your own glazes, we are highly recommended doing a course with Matt Katz at @ceramicmaterialsworkshop

Happy Potting to you! 😀
