Part 2 Glazing, Applying Latex

This article discusses the application of latex on both the exterior and interior of pottery as well as basic dipping of pots and making a paintable glaze.

The latex is applied over glazed areas to enable the dipping of pots into different colours. Afterward, the latex is removed, leaving two distinct glazes.

We also discuss how to maintain glazes; it’s advised to keep buckets free from materials that could deposit on the sides of pots.

To create a paintable glaze, a small amount of glaze is placed in a container, mixed with CMC until a creamy consistency is achieved, and then applied to the pottery.

Care is taken not to overly rims excessively, to prevent crawling issues. Additionally, a technique is demonstrated where hand-painted glaze is added below the dipped section, providing extra layered coverage without increasing glaze thickness on the rim.

The result is showcased with a pleasing pink glaze over the rutile green glaze.

Happy Potting to you! 😀
