Walkthrough on making this retro inspired vase

We have been doing a tremendous amount of glaze testing over the last few months and I wanted to create something that will suit our new glazes. Much like the Whacky Wombat Glaze

This involves a process of centring 1100 grams of clay and bringing up the wall to a height 30 cms, we then begin forming the shoulder of the vase, not my idea for this vase was to have a bold shape, something that will stand out, curves are great for most pieces but the occasion hard looking vase also looks great

After getting the shape where we want it i then use the heat gun to slightly dry the outside of the pot, it doesn’t hurt to blow some hot air into the inside of the vase either, this will stop a insulated effect happening where the inside will be substantially cooler than the outside

After using the heat gun for between one and two minutes, we then move onto trimming the outside with various trimming tools, the design you do on your own vas is up to you but just think of where you might want your glaze to pool and gather

Making pots is as much about how you glaze it as to how you’re gonna make it.

By all means comment below have any other further questions

Hope you enjoyed this post and as always Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳
