Making A Pottery Art Bowl

Making a art pot from some white midfire clay Hope you enjoy! 🤗

Few Tips On How I Made This:

***Preparing the Wheel and Clay:

Start with a clean wheel head and select a lump of clay to wedge it, eliminate air pockets and ensure even consistency. Place the clay in the center of the wheel head, gently patting it down to anchor it.

***Centering the Clay:

Begin by turning the wheel on at a slow speed and rest your hands on the clay, applying even pressure from the top and sides. Use the palm/wrist of your hands for greater control.

As the wheel spins, you may feel resistance or wobbling. Adjust your hand positions to counteract this, gently guiding the clay towards the center. I usually anchor my left arm onto the side of the wheel head to create stability

*** Throw The Walls Thick

To give you the best step towards having a good art pot, keep the walls fairly thick so when you begin stretching the clay it has thickness to thin out to. Clay walls are surprisingly strong, so don’t be afraid to play with it a fair bit

Take note when you are drying this pot, as you have to form the clay memory quite a bit. If the pot dries out too quickly, it will crack or walk so put a plastic bag over the top and dry the pot as slow as you can.

Once again hope you enjoyed this post and as always Happy Potting!!! 🥳🥳

We will be back tomorrow with some more tips and ideas ❤️
