To ensure consistent results in glaze development, it is important to follow specific steps. Begin by measuring out your water (for example 75% of dry weight of glaze) then add clay to your water as the first ingredient. The excellent suspension qualities of clay aid in the better incorporation of subsequent ingredients.

Once the clay is blended, add the remaining ingredients, whisking after each addition. This sequential addition helps to achieve a well-integrated glaze mixture, ensuring uniform distribution of all components. 

To achieve optimal results, utilize high-speed mixing. This approach facilitates thorough blending of the ingredients, leading to a more consistent and homogeneous glaze. By ensuring proper mixing, you enhance the glaze’s properties and its subsequent application.

To achieve the desired specific gravity (SG) for the glazes, we took the tested measurement of 1.58. and gradually added a total of 195ml of water to reach the targeted SG of 1.47. This careful adjustment allows you to achieve the precise density required for the glazes, optimizing their performance during application.

For reliable and reproducible comparisons, employ a standardized dipping technique during testing. Submerge the test tiles in the glaze for a consistent duration of three seconds. This standardized dipping time minimizes variations that could influence the comparison results. By ensuring uniform immersion, you can obtain reliable data for evaluating and comparing different glazes.

By following these steps, incorporating materials in sequence, and utilizing standardized testing techniques, you can achieve consistent and reliable results in glaze development. These practices contribute to the quality, performance, and reproducibility of your glaze formulations.
